Link Establishment:
The first stage of establishing a PPP connection is link establishment. During this stage, the two devices involved negotiate and configure the link parameters. Authentication:
In the authentication stage, the two devices verify each other’s identities to ensure a secure connection. PPP supports various authentication methods such as Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) and Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP). These protocols authenticate the user or device attempting to establish the connection, providing an additional layer of security.

Network Layer Protocol Negotiation:
After successfully completing the authentication stage, the devices proceed to negotiate the network layer protocols they will use for communication. PPP allows for multiple network layer protocols to be negotiated simultaneously, such as Internet Protocol (IP), Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX), or AppleTalk. This flexibility enables PPP to be compatible with a wide range of network environments.

Link Control Protocol (LCP) Configuration:
Once the network layer protocols are agreed upon, the Link Control Protocol (LCP) configuration stage begins. LCP is responsible for managing and monitoring the link between the two devices. During this stage, LCP exchanges configuration information, monitors the link quality, and detects any changes in the link status. LCP ensures that the connection remains stable and adjusts the parameters if necessary.

Network Layer Protocol Configuration:
The final stage involves the configuration of the chosen network layer protocols. The devices exchange control messages related to the selected protocols, such as IP address assignment, subnet mask configuration, and routing information. This stage ensures that the network layer protocols are properly configured to enable seamless communication between the two devices.
