Certification Level/Grade

The certification is divided into five levels: CCT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCAr. The difficulty increases in turn, and CCIE is the highest level certificate that can be directly and independently selected.

CCNA is a Cisco Certified Network Assistant Engineer, and the certification difficulty is relatively low, especially in China, because it only needs to take a written test to obtain the certification, so it has almost no gold content. Strict certification rules have made CCIE one of the most valuable certificates in the IT industry, and of course it has become one of the most respected and difficult to obtain certificates. Currently, only 60,000 people hold CCIE certification (including all directions of CCIE). .

CCIE written test


RS withdraws from the historical stage, and the direction of RS is changed to the direction of Enterprise. The existing RS certification is automatically upgraded to the enterprise infrastructure certification after the new certification is released.

Design direction changed to DevNet direction, CCDA changed to DevNet Associate, CCDP changed to DevNet Professional

Enterprise Infrastructure (formerly R&S) and Enterprise Wireless (formerly Wireless) take the same IE written test

The NP written test (core test) and the IE written test are the same. If you win the NP or IE written test, you can choose to directly take the LAB to become CCIE or refer to an optional test to become CCNP. The test is more flexible. For example, if a student takes the 350-401 exam, he can choose to take an optional NP exam and get the NP certificate or take the IE LAB and get the IE certificate.



Originally, the CCIE RS, SP, SEC, and Colla LAB exams consisted of 3 modules, and Wireless and DC consisted of 2 modules. Now they are unified into 2 modules.

Module 1 : Design

The goal of this module is to measure the ability to create, analyze, validate, and optimize network designs that underlie all deployment activities. Candidates need:

Learn about the capabilities of different technologies, solutions and services.

Turn customer needs into solutions.

Evaluate readiness to support the proposed solution.

The module is scene based and cannot access any devices. Candidates will be provided with a set of documents required for identification prior to answering the web-based project.

Examples of documentation include email threads, high-level designs, network topology diagrams, customer requirements and limitations, and more. Examples of web-based items include drag-and-drop, single-select, multi-select, drop-down options, etc.

In this module, backward navigation will be disabled. Therefore, candidates will not fully understand all the questions in this unit. Point values associated with this item will not be displayed in this module.

Module 2: Deployment, Operations and Optimization

(5 hours)

In this module, candidates will deploy, operate and optimize network technologies and solutions.

Deployment: Candidates will build the network based on design specifications, customer requirements and constraints. All steps required to successfully implement a network will be covered, including configuration, integration and troubleshooting of the commissioning of technologies and solutions according to the “Exam Topics”.

Operation and Optimization: The candidate will operate and optimize network technologies and solutions. This includes monitoring network health, network performance, configuring the network to improve quality of service, reduce outages, reduce outages, reduce operational costs, maintain high availability, reliability and security, as well as diagnose potential problems and adjust configurations to accommodate changing business objectives and / or technical requirements.

The setup provided by this module is very close to the actual production network environment and includes both hands-on (device access) and web-based projects. Where possible, a virtualized lab environment will be used in this module. See the list of devices and software for more details.

Test Score Evaluation and Reporting

Each module has a minimum score and a passing score. Minimum and passing marks are set on a per-module basis based on the exam difficulty level.

Passing scores correspond to expert-level competencies.

The minimum score is the absolute minimum expected for an expert candidate.

In order to pass the exam, candidates need to score above the combined pass mark for both modules and above the minimum score set individually on each module.

Candidates will fail the exam if they score below the overall pass mark for both modules, or if they score below the minimum set in 1 (or more) of the individual modules.

Candidates will not be given any additional score details after passing the exam.

Candidates who fail the exam will be given a score report indicating which modules they passed or failed. Additionally, candidates will be provided with cumulative scoring percentages at each domain level for both modules.


CCAr (Cisco Certified Network Architect) is the highest level, the most demanding, and the most difficult certification level in Cisco certification (with less than 20 people in the world).
